GAME PLAN / PATHWAYS

UNDERSTAND YOUR OPTIONS.

Before choosing a destination, understand what each pathway offers. The right route depends on athletic ability, academic background, maturity and budget.

HIGH SCHOOL & PREP SCHOOL

Continue your education while developing your game.

High schools provide secondary education. Prep schools combine an academic setting with an athletic program, with standards and structures that vary by school. Some also offer post-graduate programs for students who have already completed high school.

Who is it for?
Student-athletes who would benefit from further development and an introduction to the North American school and sports system. The academic program and qualification must be checked.

CÉGEP IN QUÉBEC

A college pathway between secondary school and university.

Cégeps offer a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) through pre-university or technical programs, alongside competitive athletics. Basketball teams compete within the RSEQ’s college divisions.

Who is it for?
Student-athletes seeking a French-speaking environment and a structured academic pathway in Québec. The right fit depends on the course of study, admissions requirements and team level.

UNIVERSITY & COLLEGE

Pursue higher education while competing for your school.

In the United States, university programs include NCAA and NAIA schools. Junior colleges (JUCO / NJCAA) generally offer a two-year pathway that may lead to a transfer. Canadian university and college options include U SPORTS and the CCAA.

Who is it for?
Student-athletes whose playing level, academic record and eligibility meet the target program’s requirements. Any future transfer needs careful planning and is never automatic.
